CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer
IKEA U.S.
Javier Quiñones is a dedicated, forward-thinking, and passionate leader with a long-standing connection to the IKEA values. As CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA U.S., he guides over 16,000 co-workers towards one vision: to create a better everyday life for the many people by offering well-designed, functional and affordable, high-quality home furnishing, produced with care for people and the environment.
Javi joined IKEA Badalona in Barcelona as a sales coworker in 1999 and over the last 20 years has developed his leadership across various roles in the organization. His experience spans three different retail markets around the world, including Store Manager in IKEA Spain; CEO of IKEA UK and Ireland; and now CEO and CSO of IKEA U.S. For Javi, IKEA has always been about progress—empowering internal leaders to make decisions and mistakes, continually navigating together.
Javi’s strategic direction has been transformative for the American market and the global brand. Javi continues to steer IKEA into the future reinforced by three pillars—accessibility, affordability and sustainability. He has been an integral part of the work to execute an omnichannel approach to transform digital business, including the launch of the U.S. digital hub and the new shoppable app. Javi’s leadership is a commitment to meeting people where they are and making the planet a better place while doing so.
Born in Barcelona, Spain, Javi recalls his amazement and the inspiration he drew from his first visit to an IKEA store with his mother. That same awe has propelled him in his career at IKEA and is the root of his passion for the brand.
Javi has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Barcelona. He is married to Maria and they have two daughters, Martina and Carlota. He carries forward the legacy of Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA, with a love for people, products, and loving everything he does day in and day out.
