SVP and Group GM, Product Industry
Workday
Michael joined Workday in September of 2022 as the General Manager of the Workday Student Product Organization. In that role he led the design, development and strategic path of the Student Product. In 2023, Higher Education and State/Local Governments (SLED) were added to Mike’s areas of responsibility, as the GM for SLED Hofherr was responsible for shaping the vision on how to move all Workday’s product suite forward for these two Industries. In his current role, Mike is responsible for Industry at Workday with the goal of driving market growth through smart cross industry product development, customer engagement, and innovation. In his Group GM of Industry role Mike is responsible for WD business in SLED, Non-profit, Federal, Healthcare, Professional Services, Retail/Manufacturing, and Comms, Media, and Technology.
In his previous role, Hofherr led the Amazon Web Services, World Wide Public Sector (WWPS) Education Business Development and Strategy Team consisting of the K-12, Academic Medical Centers, Research, and Higher Education verticals.
Prior to joining AWS, Hofherr served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for The Ohio State University. This role included the leadership of four departments - the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE), Academic Campus Facilities, and Enterprise Security (ES).
Mike joined Ohio State from Penn State University in 2011 bringing an extensive background in managing and leading all aspects of learning technology projects. Prior to his work in Higher Education Mike worked as a Technology Consultant for Andersen Consulting.
He holds a BS in Communications Media from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MS in instructional Systems from the Pennsylvania State University.
