Sameer Sharma is AVP of the IOT BU (Americas & Europe) at MediaTek. He is a thought leader and serial-intrapreneur in Edge to Cloud AI/IOT ecosystem, having driven multiple strategic initiatives to scale over the past 24 years.
Prior to his current role, he was the Global GM (New Business Initiatives) for AIOT/5G Solutions at Intel. He led a global team that incubated and scaled new growth categories and business models to a $600M+ run-rate business (with one of the highest growths across company). His team also focused on establishing leadership across the industry playing a pivotal role in deploying solutions for the development of smart cities around the world—an important effort in furthering the goal of sustainability. These solutions include Intelligent Transportation, Public Safety, Sustainability and Private 5G deployments. Sameer has served on multiple boards including MIT Mobility Initiative, ENO center for Transportation, and globally leading Video Analytics company. Prior to that, he has successfully scaled multiple new initiatives in Cloud/Data Center, Mobile and Embedded. This work spanned hardware and software focus for the first Xeon product, Network Processors, Infineon Wireless acquisition, and iPhone design win.
As a leading authority on Edge AI/IOT & 5G, Sameer is a frequent keynote speaker at top global events and has been featured in publications such as Economist, Forbes, WSJ and New York Times. His high-energy talks cover pragmatic examples of impact and reflect his passion and belief that technology can and must be a force for good in our society.
Sameer has an MBA from The Wharton School at UPenn, and a Masters in Computer Engineering from Rutgers University. He holds 11 patents in the areas of AI/IOT/Mobile.
