Ian Bailey is recognized as a leading figure in Australian Retail and is attracting attention internationally for the global expansion of Anko, an innovative product collection and supply chain solution. Ian is Managing Director of Wesfarmers Retail Division, the Kmart Group. which includes Anko and over 450 stores and is the number one performing general merchandise and apparel retailer in Australia. Since joining Kmart Australia Ltd. in 2006, Ian has been instrumental in re-engineering its purpose, developing a strategic blueprint and operational architecture for the transformation of Kmart’s business model. Under his leadership, it has shifted from a traditional discount store chain to an innovative, modern, hybrid retail model which is as much about product development as it is about retail. Today, Kmart is noted as one of the most trusted and loved brands in Australia and New Zealand along with being number one in the Global Fashion Transparency Index. Its customer driven social media following is unrivalled. He is a member of the Wall Street Journal Global CEO Council and speaks publicly on leadership and retail. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
