Dan Covert is Director of Supply Chain Research and Development for Retail Business Services (RBS), the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA. Serving a portfolio of local grocery brands including Food Lion, Giant Food, GIANT/MARTIN’S, Hannaford, Peapod and Stop & Shop, which collectively span 23 U.S. states and operate more than 2,000 stores, RBS leverages scale to drive synergies and provides innovative solutions, as well as industry-leading expertise, insights and analytics to local brands to support their strategies. Dan oversees the development and implementation of emerging technologies that enable RBS’ supply chain strategy.

Prior to taking on this role, Dan was a graduate student in Supply Chain Management at MIT, where his research focused on optimizing promotional safety stock levels for one of ADUSA’s local brands, Food Lion.

With a 6-year tenure with Ahold Delhaize USA companies, Dan began his career as an international trainee supporting supply chain operations for Mega Image in Romania and Delhaize Belgium. He then went on to lead a team in demand planning support Hannaford and Food Lion banners.

Dan attended Colby College where he studied math and physics and received a Masters degree in Supply Chain Management from MIT. He lives in Portland, Maine, with his wife, Lydia. Outside of the office, he enjoys rock climbing, backcountry skiing and travelling.
