Next gen social shopping: Sephora, Facebook and Instagram’s take on retail’s new sales channels

This discussion will focus on the rise of social shopping. Social media is continuously evolving as a vital part of consumers’ path to purchase, especially younger generations, playing vital roles in both pre and post-purchase activities.

Social media is integral to product/brand discovery, is heavily utilized for pre-purchase research and is crucial for sharing post-purchase feedback and facilitating ongoing conversations between brands/retailers and consumers. As social shopping capabilities continue, these platforms will continue to be an important part of customers’ journeys.

This panel will discuss how retailers are using social media in innovative ways both to sell products and communicate with customers beyond the transaction. Topics will include how retailers can use social media to build communities, make the shopping process more frictionless, and learn more about customers and their needs, as well as what to expect as social shopping continues to evolve.
