Thynk Active helps leading brands design and implement solutions that re-invent customer engagement. Our World Class consultants are retail industry experts who guide businesses through systems strategy, selection, integration and implementation giving them the power to own and innovate the customer experience where it matters most: the point of purchase.
To that end, the goal should be a headless, unified commerce platform, fully optimized for closing a customer sale at any engagement point. Our Active UTP™ platform delivers on that goal by enabling innovative customer touchpoints, supporting unified commerce, and positioning retailers to outpace the competition and secure the future.
Thynk Active, the unified commerce and retail systems consulting firm, announced today that they have been selected by Smart & Final Stores, Inc. to manage the implementation of SAP Omnichannel POS by GK in over 300-plus grocery and foodservice stores.
Thynk Active recently helped Smart & Final in its quest to select a POS solution that would align with its long-term roadmap for unified commerce. Ed Wong, SVP and CIO at the Los Angeles-based chain, said: “The experience in store systems that the Thynk Active consultants have and the numerous selection projects they had done previously made them an easy choice to lead our selection project.”
“It was a true pleasure working with the large, cross-functional team at Smart & Final throughout the vendor-selection process,” said Charlie Daggs, Chief Consulting Officer at Thynk Active. “The team was committed to finding a solution to help build the foundation for S&F’s vision, which is an ideal customer experience wherever the purchase works best for the shopper.”
Smart & Final focused on SAP Omnichannel POS by GK as the best overall fit based on its feature set, functionality, and technology stack. Also playing a key factor in the selection was the flexibility to add other solutions to extend their capabilities within the planned unified commerce ecosystem. The POS solution suite includes OmniPOS for omni-channel POS, SAP Hybris Mobile Consumer Assistant by GK for mobile checkout, and the GK/Retail TransAction+ payment solution. Smart & Final engaged Thynk Active to manage the implementation of the POS solution in order to launch the in-store transformation.
“Thynk Active specializes in the purchase moment and how retailers can get that right,” said Wong. “They helped us make the best decision for a solution. Now we’re relying on them to make sure the POS implementation goes smoothly as well.”
The grocery segment in retail is experiencing a huge wave of digital transformation that is quickly changing the dynamics of how grocers use technology to drive their business. With its unified commerce initiative, Smart & Final is working toward further improving its relationship with both business and household customers—a unique business model with equally unique requirements for store and e-commerce systems.
